And that could ramp up the number of at-risk kids that the local club can serve at its main campus, at 502 E. Sample St., from about 140 daily to 200 in the first 18 months, said Jory Fitzgerald Kelly, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County.
The announcement comes Friday at a press conference scheduled for 3 p.m.
Sprint CEO Daniel Hesse is a Notre Dame alumnus. The gift from him and his wife, Diane, would additionally finance eight summer learning internships through Notre Dame’s Center for Social Concerns. Of those, two would be placed at the local Boys & Girls Club, Fitzgerald Kelly said.
