Corning workers appointed to top leadership jobs

Corning recently appointed Martin Curran as senior vice president and general manager of
Corning Optical Fiber.

Curran joined Corning Cable Systems (formerly Siecor Corp.) in 1984 and has held roles in finance, sales and marketing and operations.

Since 2000, he has served as senior vice president and general manager of Corning Cable Systems’ hardware and equipment operations in the Americas, including North Carolina, Texas, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

In this capacity, he is also responsible for Corning Cable Systems’ global hardware and equipment technology and operations strategy.

He is responsible for Corning Gilbert, which specializes in broadband coaxial interconnect systems, and is chairman of the Hickory-based joint venture US Conec.

Curran graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in finance and received his master’s degree from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business.

He and his family will relocate from Hickory to Corning, N.Y., during the coming months.
