INDIANAPOLIS — Former NFL defensive back Jeff Burris will work as radio analyst for Marian College in its inaugural season of football this fall.

Burris, a first-round pick out of Notre Dame in 1994, played 10 seasons in the NFL, including four with the Indianapolis Colts.

“This is like a dream come true,” Burris said Tuesday. “Growing up with Monday Night Football and watching games, I have always wanted to have the opportunity to be part of a broadcast team.”

Marian, a private NAIA-affiliated school of about 1,300 students on the west side of Indianapolis, will join the Mid-States Football Association’s Mideast League. It will be the 21 st football-playing college in Indiana and the first new football school in the state since St. Francis in 1998.

Burris, who also played with Buffalo, Cincinnati and New England, will provide color commentary for the broadcast on Indianapolis station WSPM (89.1 FM) and streamed live on the Internet.

Marian’s debut game will be Sept. 1 at William Penn.
