The University
of Notre Dame’s
Mendoza
College of Business
is launching two new one-year graduate
degree programs in spring semester 2015. The Master
of Science in Business Analytics
(MSBA) and the Master of Science in Finance
(MSF), both designed for working professionals, will be offered at Notre Dame’s
Chicago campus at 224 S. Michigan Ave.

“The demand for targeted degree programs delivered
in a one-year format has surged in recent years, as working professionals seek educational
opportunities that suit their lifestyles and career needs,” said Roger
Huang
, Martin J. Gillen Dean of the Mendoza College. “The
programs we offer will fill a strong need for both leaders in finance, as well
as those who understand the implications of big data. This trend also speaks to
the expanding reach of business, which in turn creates a demand for people who
can think strategically within specific disciplines.”

The Master of Science in Business
Analytics
is an intense 30-credit-hour program for
working professionals at all levels. The program’s goal is to provide a
rigorous education in applying analytical techniques to massive data sets to
solve business problems—knowledge that has become critically important due to
revolutionary advances in information technology.

Students will attend classes at Notre Dame’s
downtown Chicago campus on alternating weekends, plus three
extended sessions at the Stayer Center for Executive Education on the Notre
Dame campus in South Bend. The coursework will emphasize business
application, so that students will gain experience in solving real-world
problems. The program will follow a blended learning format, with about 25
percent of the material delivered online.

The Master of Science in Finance
will offer a comprehensive education in finance to students with diverse
backgrounds with the goal of preparing them for advancement in finance
positions in business and government.

The rigorous, 32-credit-hour MSF is suitable for
those with little work experience, and for working professionals at any level seeking
a graduate education in finance.  The
program is designed for individuals seeking to advance in their current careers,
as well as for those seeking to switch careers. Like the MSBA, they will attend
classes on alternating weekends.
