Biography

Brett T. Robinson joins the Department of Marketing as a Concurrent Assistant Professional Specialist. Dr. Robinson is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he studied marketing and English literature. His doctorate is from the University of Georgia where he helped establish the New Media Institute, a program for exploring the critical, commercial and creative dimensions of innovative digital media technology. Dr. Robinson has industry experience in advertising, public relations and digital media management. He has worked in several industries including CPG (GlaxoSmithKline), sports marketing (NHL), and manufacturing (Textron) in a variety of marketing communications roles. Robinson's interests include consumer culture theory and the integration of the liberal arts with business teaching and research. His new book Appletopia: Media Technology and the Religious Imagination of Steve Jobs" looks at the convergence of spiritual and technological ideals in the Apple brand story. It will be available from Baylor University Press August 15, 2013.  Dr. Robinson lives with his wife, Danielle, and four children John, Joseph, Anna and Michael in South Bend.
