Greg Muzzillo started Proforma as an industry distributor in 1978. The company grew quickly and in the early 1980s was recognized three consecutive years in Inc. magazine’s list of the 500 fastest growing companies in North America.
In the late 1980’s Proforma introduced its membership program to provide a system that supports distributors in retaining their business ownership and independence, while sharing in sales and marketing resources, purchasing power with industry suppliers, a single office managing all billing, accounting, vendor payments, cash flow, computer systems and more.
Today Proforma has more than 750 members with over $450 million in sales. Proforma has over 100 members in its Million Dollar Club and more than 40 members in its Multi-Million Dollar Club (with sales ranging from $2 million to over $20 million). In 2014, eight Proforma members were named to Inc. magazine’s Inc. 5000 List of the 5000 Fastest Growing Companies.
Vera Muzzillo, CEO
Vera Muzzillo joined Proforma as its Chief Executive Officer in 2001. In this role she works to develop strategic business opportunities and establish strong relationships with the company’s franchise owners. She also provides comprehensive oversight of all financial and technology-related elements of the company. Under Vera’s leadership, Proforma has achieved remarkable growth in annual sales figures from $85 million to $450 million since 2001.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Vera was honored for her top performance as a finance major with the Raymond P. Kent Award and was also inducted into the National Business Honor Society.
Vera was named a Top Ten Women Business Owner of Northeast Ohio by the National Association of Women Business Owners Cleveland in 2007. She has also been honored in the promotional products and print industry numerous times, including being named Counselor magazine’s Person of the Year with Greg Muzzillo in 2010; receiving the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) 2006 Woman of Distinction; and earning recognition as the ‘20/40’ Visionary by Printing Impressions magazine in 2004. Vera was also named one of the Top 24 Women in Franchising by Franchise Update magazine in 2014.
