The Master of Science in Management (MSM) will take the knowledge you have and show you how to apply it in the world of business. It’s a program for engineers and artists, for writers, biologists and historians who want to turn their passions into a career path.
In small classes taught by distinguished Mendoza faculty, you’ll learn “the language of business,” gaining a solid foundation in business fundamentals, including accounting, marketing, management and finace. You will join a collaborative group of students from diverse academic backgrounds and move through the program as a cohort.
At graduation, you’ll possess a foundation of business knowledge centered on values, integrity and a concern for the greater good. The MSM is designed to complement your undergraduate degree to lead to a job and career that puts your passions and skills to work.

Work one-on-one with a career coach to develop a strategy for achieving your career goals. You will also learn effective methods for job search, interview skills, and resume writing. You will bring it all together to define your individualized brand.

The Bridge to Success course helps you identify how you can leverage your undergraduate experience toward a business career. Through guided exercises, interactions with ND alumni, and one-on-one meetings with your career coach, you will develop your individualized brand and form a strategy to kick-start your career.

As an MSM student, you have the opportunity to:
- Participate in a variety of clubs, including the MSM Association where you will plan events and service projects for your fellow MSM students.
- Spend 10 days abroad with classmates in China, South America or South Africa where you will tour companies, see the sights and serve communities.
- Attend a Notre Dame Graduate Alumni tailgate and mix with alumni, professors and recruiters in a casual setting, then watch the game from the graduate student section at Notre Dame Stadium.
What You’ll Learn: MSM Course of Study
During your 11 months in the MSM program, you’ll focus exclusively on developing business knowledge to enhance your area of expertise. Under a curriculum designed for students who have never studies business, you’ll work with classmates with a variety of undergraduate degrees to tackle new topics together. From Finance Principles to Marketing Management, you’ll earn 38 credits that will change the way you think about business.
You’ll spend your summer building a basis of business knowledge with courses in the principles of management, statistics and accounting. You’ll tackle finance principles, microeconomic analysis and management speaking in the fall.
The year ends with a spring term that covers strategic decision making, international management and corporate finance. There’s also an opportunity for a 10-day international immersion experience in China, South America or South Africa.
Pair the MSM with a One-Year MBA
After you graduate from the MSM program and gain career experience, you then qualify for Notre Dame’s accelerated one-year MBA program— an opportunity that will allow you to take a deeper dive into finance, marketing, analytics, investments or consulting.
You will be challenged by world-class faculty, inspired by accomplished alumni, and will collaborate with students from diverse personal and academic backgrounds.

The MSM program is designed for individuals who have earned bachelor’s degrees in non-business disciplines. We cannot accept applications from students who majored in finance, accounting, marketing, management, business or dual-degree business programs. Economics majors are welcome to apply.

- Early Decision candidates are expected to withdraw their candidacy from other schools and provide a non-refundable $1,500 deposit upon admission to Notre Dame.
- International candidates should apply by the February 19 deadline.
Tuition & Aid
Tuition for the MSM program for the 2018-2019 academic year is $51,086.
Merit-based fellowships are available to all qualified candidates, regardless of citizenship. These are determined by the Admissions Committee at the same time your application is being evaluated. To apply, please check the appropriate box on the application form. No additional application is required.
