The Master of Science in Management (MSM) will take the knowledge you have and show you how to apply it in the world of business. It’s a program for engineers and artists, for writers, biologists and historians who want to turn their passions into a career path.
In small classes taught by distinguished Mendoza faculty, you’ll learn “the language of business,” gaining a solid foundation in business fundamentals, including accounting, marketing, management and finance. You will join a collaborative group of students from diverse academic backgrounds and move through the program as a cohort.
At graduation, you’ll possess a foundation of business knowledge centered on values, integrity and a concern for the greater good. The MSM is designed to complement your non-business undergraduate degree to lead to a job and career that puts your passions and skills to work.

The Bridge to Success course helps you identify how you can leverage your undergraduate experience toward a business career. Through guided exercises, interactions with ND alumni, and one-on-one meetings with your career coach, you will develop your individualized brand and form a strategy to kick-start your career.

As an MSM student, you have the opportunity to:
- Participate in a variety of clubs, including the MSM Association where you will plan events and service projects for your fellow MSM students.
- Spend 10 days abroad with classmates in Asia, South America or South Africa where you will tour companies, see the sights and serve communities.
- Attend a Notre Dame Graduate Alumni tailgate and mix with alumni, professors and recruiters in a casual setting, then watch the game from the graduate student section at Notre Dame Stadium.
What You’ll Learn: MSM Course of Study
During your 11 months in the Master of Science in Management (MSM) program, you’ll develop specialized business knowledge to succeed in any industry. In a curriculum designed for students from non-business backgrounds, you’ll work with peers from a variety of undergraduate areas of study to tackle new topics together.
What’s more, you’ll have the opportunity to declare one of two concentrations to lend further focus to your studies:
The finance concentration prepares you to tackle complex challenges through the real-time application of advanced Excel methodologies, supply and demand principles and managerial economics.
Through the marketing concentration, you’ll explore digital marketing and its role in business today, as well as topics in contemporary sales management to give yourself a competitive edge in today’s global business landscape.
Go from learner to leader in 11 months
Build a basis of business knowledge with courses in the principles of management, statistics and accounting over the summer. Then, move through courses in transformational leadership, strategic communications and micro-economic analysis in the fall.
Your year ends with a spring term that covers strategic decision-making, international management and corporate finance. You may also choose to round out your degree with a 10-day international immersion experience in Asia, South America or South Africa.
From finance principles to marketing management, you’ll earn 38 credits that will change the way you think about business and leadership.

The MSM program is designed for individuals who have earned bachelor’s degrees in non-business disciplines. We cannot accept applications from students who majored in finance, accounting, marketing, management, business or dual-degree business programs. Economics majors and business minors (18 credit hours of business courses or fewer) are welcome to apply.
Applicants who received a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher, or those who will have their degree conferred from the University of Notre Dame, will have the requirement to take the GRE/GMAT waived. They are still welcome to take the exam but a lack of score will not have a negative impact on their admissibility. TOEFL and IELTS scores will still be required from international students who studied outside of the U.S. or did not study at an English-instructed institution.

- Early Decision
Early Decision candidates are expected to withdraw their candidacy from other schools and provide a non-refundable $1,000 deposit once they are admitted.
- International Applicants
International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply by March 1 to allow time for VISA paperwork and processing.
Tuition & Aid
Tuition for the 2022-2023 M.S. in Management program is $48,000.
Merit-based fellowships are available to all qualified candidates, regardless of citizenship. These are determined by the Admissions Committee at the same time your application is being evaluated. To apply, please check the appropriate box on the application form and write a short statement about your merit-based qualifications to receive an award. No additional application is required.
