The Notre Dame Alumni Association’s Board of Directors has chosen Christopher (Chris) Simms ’88 as its new president-elect.
Simms, who also serves as the chair of the Black Alumni of Notre Dame, works as practice manager for OrthoCarolina, a multi-location medical practice in the greater Charlotte, NC area that specializes in comprehensive orthopedic care.
“I am extremely humbled, blessed, and honored to have been chosen the president-elect of the Notre Dame Alumni Association,” Simms said. “I want to offer my most sincere thanks to everyone in the Association and all of my fellow board members. I am looking forward to serving the Notre Dame family and community to the best of my abilities.”
Simms lives in Concord, N.C. with his wife, Yolanda, a fellow 1988 graduate. The couple has two sons, Sean and David.
Simms will begin a year-long term as president-elect starting on July 1. He will serve with Monique MacKinnon, the current president-elect of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, before taking over as president in July 2018.
As a student, Simms lived in Grace Hall and majored in Business Administration.
