The University of Notre Dame’s entrepreneurship programs ranked No. 13 among undergraduate programs – up from 21 st in 2006 – and 25 th among graduate programs in Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review’s fifth annual survey of the top entrepreneurship schools nationwide.

The survey evaluated more than 900 schools on “key criteria in the areas of academics and requirements, students and faculty, and outside-the-classroom support and experiences.” A total of 50 schools – 25 undergraduate and 25 graduate – made the list.

“The Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial Studies curriculum emphasizes the core of entrepreneurship – vision and strategic thinking,” said James H. Davis, management professor and director of the entrepreneurship center at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. “Intuition is encouraged and our students are challenged to ‘think like entrepreneurs’ so they will be able to recognize opportunities and face challenges head-on .”

Davis noted the strengths of the Gigot program, now in its 10 th year, are its involvement of students in real world opportunities, including participation in internships that span the globe, and the annual Notre Dame Business Plan Competitions, which have helped launch numerous successful ventures. The Center also features social entrepreneurship, particularly in the microventuring program launched in 2006, and has an extensive alumni outreach network, the IrishAngels, whose 200-plus members act as mentors, guest lecturers and competition judges.

The results of the survey, along with the analysis, appear in the November issue of Entrepreneur, which hits newsstands Oct. 23. They can also be viewed at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges.
