The University of Notre Dame Office of Development is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas Farmer (BA 1990) as director of the MBA Annual Fund and executive director of the John Cardinal O’Hara Society. Nick brings 20 years of marketing and communications experience to his position, most recently leading the Notre Dame Annual Fund through the successful completion of the 2010 fiscal year including raising over $4.7 million in unrestricted gifts.
Nick started his career with Edward Lowe Industries and the Edward Lowe Foundation. Founder of the cat box filler industry with his Kitty Litter brand, Ed Lowe launched his foundation in 1990 to support emerging entrepreneurs. After earning his Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern, Nick joined two of his classmates in building a marketing department at Northwest Indiana Newspapers. His higher education career began with his appointment as Director of Marketing Communications at Saint Mary’s College and subsequently as Senior Consultant and Associate Account Director for Lipman Hearne, a Chicago-based marketing communications firm serving higher education and other non-profit organizations. In his consulting role, Nick led projects for the University of Miami, University of Virginia Annual Fund and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Nick and his wife, Holly (MA 1992) live in South Bend with their eight-year-old twins, Amanda and Erin.
