Over the winter break, Fadel Matta, a 1st year MBA, decided to embrace the first value of the MBA Values Statement: Community & Responsibility. He volunteered on a daily basis for the Meals on Wheels program as organized by a local company called REAL Services (Resources for Enriching Adult Living). On his last day of volunteering he proposed to the MBA Student Services team to get a group of MBA’s together to service a Meals on Wheels route on a weekly basis.
With the help of Fadel Matta, Sarah Louise Windham, the Senior Vice President of Community Service for MBAA, and the MBA Student Services team, a plan has begun to come together. Not only was the response from the MBA ‘s overwhelming (sixteen signed up within hours of the email going out), but because of the Notre Dame MBA ‘s commitment to this program, Real Services is able to open a new route, enabling them to service a whole group of people they were not able to help before.
The MBA Staff will follow the lead of these incredible students as well. Once they leave for the summer, teams of two will take over the route to ensure that the dedication to these community members the students fostered over the semester continues.
