Martin Barron is an Associate Teaching Professor of IT, Analytics, and Operations in the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. His teaching and research focus on the application of machine learning and statistical methods to human performance analytics, athlete health management, and sports analytics. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in machine learning, sports analytics, and human performance analytics.
His current research centers on developing next-generation metrics derived from GPS tracking data and player health monitoring systems. He collaborates with industry partners on athlete management platforms and injury risk modeling. Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Barron worked as a Data Scientist at Kitman Labs, where he developed injury risk prediction pipelines and led longitudinal studies with elite sports teams.
Professor Barron holds a Ph.D. in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Notre Dame, with methodological research in statistical machine learning published in Cell, Nucleic Acids Research, and Scientific Reports. He has received four Outstanding Professor Awards across Notre Dame's graduate and undergraduate programs.
