Chesterton man leads way in devising ways to trade intangibles

Years after helping launch the Chicago Climate Exchange Inc., or CCX, which trades pollution credits, Chesterton resident Gerard Pannekoek came out of “semi-retirement” on Dec. 14 to take the helm of the world’s first exchange for trading intellectual property, Chicago-based Intellectual Property Exchange International Inc., also referred to as IPXI.

Pannekoek, 50, was the standout candidate in the eyes of Chief Executive Jim Malackowski of Ocean Tomo LLC, the Chicago-based merchant bank and co-founder of IPXI.
