Facebook’s Annual Take From You: Not That Much

One of the more surprising revelations from the Facebook S-1 filing is how little the company is generating in revenue from each member of its massive audience.
The filing indicates that the company finished the year with 845 million active users. From that group, the company managed in 2011 to generate $3.71 billion in revenue. As Notre Dame finance professor Tim Loughran notes, that comes to $4.39 in revenue per user per year. Or if you prefer, a little under 37 cents a month.
