University of Notre Dame MBA students now get a broader range of assistance thanks to an expanded role for the Student Services academic advising team for graduate programs at Mendoza College of Business. With more than 80 years of combined experience, the advising team supports students across their time in the program through a comprehensive range of services, from academic advising to helping with student life issues.

Students are assigned an academic advisor from their very first day in the program.

“We are your partner from orientation to graduation, guiding you on owning your whole experience,” said Christine Gramhofer, director of Mendoza Graduate Program Student Services. “Your advisor will help not only with academic planning but also generally when you’re not sure where to go. They are the point person who has the broad picture of what you can achieve and keeps you focused on the larger objective of why you are at Notre Dame.”

Advisors offer support such as one-on-one guidance in choosing majors and classes as well as overseeing registration. They also advocate on a student’s behalf to help overcome obstacles — even personal issues — that impede academic success.

The team also works with Graduate Business Career Development staff while at the same time focusing on connecting students to all the resources available across the University.

“We understand the curriculum so know what will work best for your career plans,” Gramhofer said. “We help you identify roles you may want to pursue after graduation and coursework and majors that will get you there. We’re here to help you navigate your entire experience inside and outside the classroom.”

Academic advisors also connect students with like-minded communities by planning programs and events. “I want every Mendoza student to have signature events to help them understand what it means to be Irish,” Gramhofer said. “To be an MBA student with a servant’s heart.”
