Hopes to build a country on

In the days leading up to the inauguration of President Barack Obama, members of the Notre Dame community offered their thoughts about the future in a video featured on ND.edu, “Inaugural Dreams: Hopes for a New Administration.”  

Voices included Carolyn Woo, Martin J. Gillen Dean of the Mendoza College of Business, who spoke about this being a time to forget differences and act in unity to solve societal problems. Notre Dame student body president Bob Reish, a senior Finance and Marketing major, talked about the enthusiasm stirred by President Obama in the younger generation.

Other interviews included Brig. Gen. Jeff Talley, associate professor of civil engineering and geological sciences, who spoke from Baghdad, Iraq, about his hope that countries will work together to move the peace process forward, and faculty members from across the University, who described prospects ranging from human equality to nonviolent TV programming.
