Kellogg Names New Dean
Published: March 30, 2010 / Author: Diana Middleton
Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management ended its nine-month search for a dean by selecting one of its own alumni. Sally Blount, currently the dean of New York University’s Stern School of Business undergraduate college will join Kellogg in July.
Ms. Blount, 48, is taking over an elite business school that often tops a number of rankings. She succeeds Dipak Jain, who stepped down last year after eight years in the job. During his tenure, Mr. Jain had to guide the school through two recessions and immense pressure on business education, from students, corporations and the public. Search committee members says they chose Ms. Blount for her fundraising prowess, diplomacy and insider knowledge of the Kellogg campus.
Dean Carolyn Woo is quoted in this article saying that it’s easier to make strides in this arena than it was when she took the reigns 13 years ago.
