NBC Universal TV Networks Distribution Business and Legal Affairs promotes Slattery

NBC Universal TV Networks Distribution promotes Jim Slattery from Senior Cable Counsel to Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs and appoints George Callard to Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, effective immediately. The announcement was made today by Jodi Brenner, Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs.  

“I am delighted to make this announcement. Jim has done an outstanding job in negotiating and providing legal counsel for many of our multi-layered deals and George brings a wealth of industry expertise to the team,” said Brenner. “With their support we are well positioned to reach our business goals for all of NBCU’s network distribution deals.”  

Brenner’s team is responsible for the business and legal affairs aspects of the distribution of NBCU’s linear programming services and related offerings as well as the retransmission of NBC and Telemundo stations by cable operators, satellite providers, telcos, broadband, wireless and alternative media distributors. Brenner and her team also support digital initiatives and provide counsel with respect to NBCU’s interest in Sundance, A&E and other programming ventures, including new programming services.  

Both Slattery and Callard will work closely with senior executives and the business and legal affairs departments for studios and media networks to assist in the strategic planning, management and negotiation of NBCU’s cable properties to its multi-platform distribution partners. Slattery will be responsible for Comcast, Time Warner, AT&T and Verizon accounts and Callard will be responsible for DIRECTV, EchoStar, NCTC and Cablevision accounts.

Previously, as Senior Cable Counsel, Slattery handled a primary practice area for NBCU TV Networks Distribution and assisted on general distribution matters. Slattery transitioned to NBC during the merger with Universal in May 2004 where he provided counsel, negotiated and drafted cable affiliation agreements for USA Network’s programming services.
