SOUTH BEND — From this city to Washington, D.C., to Bulgaria and back: You might say Mark Neal has come full circle.

But when you look at his quick rise through the business world, it’s clear that his loop was geographic only. The trajectory of his career has been straight up.

Neal, a 1983 University of Notre Dame graduate, has been named vice president and chief financial officer of Press Ganey Associates, a South Bend-based company that measures customer satisfaction, primarily in the health care industry.

The company is growing, and Neal said his mission in 2006 will be to keep things focused on key areas of opportunity for Press Ganey, such as the health care market, which currently makes up much of its business.

He also said he hopes to continue to attract high quality workers from the South Bend area.”As the company’s grown, getting to find people in South Bend is becoming more and more of an effort,” he said. “We’re finding ourselves going outside the area to find people.”

Prior to joining Press Ganey in September, Neal spent 10 years as vice president and treasurer for CTB Inc., an agricultural equipment manufacturer in Milford. During his time there, business almost doubled, he said, and is now at about $300 million a year.

He also held a directorship of finance and administration with the Bulgarian American Enterprise Fund in Sophia, Bulgaria, after working as manager of financial services and budget policy for the Overseas Private Investment Corp., a Washington-based agency that helps U.S. companies invest in foreign countries.
