Spirent Communications announces new president for performance analysis-broadband division

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Spirent Communications (NYSE:SPM) (LSE:SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service management solutions, announced today that Rob Piconi will join the company as president of its Performance Analysis-Broadband Division based in Calabasas, Calif.
Piconi brings more than 15 years of executive management leadership to this role. His recent experience includes involvement with some of the largest IP video and Triple Play deployments in the world. Piconi has significant industry, operations and technology expertise in the areas of wireless and wireline broadband access, converged ethernet, video and IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS). In his recent general management roles at Lucent Technologies, Piconi led large R&D, Engineering and Product Management organizations that penetrated new growth markets in next generation access, IPTV and IMS.
Piconi also brings to Spirent critical experience in end-to-end supply chain management and operations. At Lucent Technologies, he was instrumental in developing the company’s integrated virtual supply chain and product realization model, a significant transformation of Lucent’s processes and infrastructure that received widespread recognition for its cash and P&L results. Prior to his work in the telecommunications industry, Piconi spent nine years in the etrochemical
industry with Amoco Corporation and British Petroleum PLC. Here he held various domestic and international roles in chemical manufacturing, engineering, capital expansion and global business management.

Spirent’s Performance Analysis-Broadband Division largely focuses on next-generation wireline technologies and labbased solutions that enable Spirent’s customers to bring applications to market faster and with better quality. In the role of president, Piconi will have overall responsibility for the division, including product management, R&D, operations and the strategic growth initiatives to drive the business forward.

Piconi holds BS and BA undergraduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
