Michael L. Hemler formerly was an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Notre Dame. He received an MBA and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis. His research area focused on investments with an emphasis on financial derivatives. He published numerous research articles in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Futures Markets. A former Kaneb Teaching Fellow, he taught derivatives, financial management, and applied investment management classes in the Mendoza College of Business.
