Motivation to Apply & Overcoming Hesitations

Arianna Sakoutis’s MSBA ExperienceWhen Arianna Sakoutis first decided to apply to the MSBA program, she felt a mixture of nerves, excitement, and a deep sense of clarity. “I had a quiet confidence that if this opportunity were meant for me, it would find its way,” she says. Her turning point came when she discovered how the program seamlessly blends technical analytics with data storytelling, proving that the program wasn’t just about crunching numbers but about translating data into actionable insights.

Despite some initial hesitations about her non-business background, Arianna found strength in her unique perspective. “I wasn’t behind; I was just bringing something different to the table,” she reflects. This mindset shift helped her realize that her background would only enhance her experience in the program.

Personal Growth and Overcoming Challenges

Arianna’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. During Module 1, she found herself feeling overwhelmed by multiple assignments and tight deadlines. But rather than face it alone, she leaned on her peers for support, collaborating in study groups and reminding herself that collaboration was just as important as technical skill.

This experience, she says, made her realize that her ability to dig deeper into data—analyzing it from multiple angles and uncovering new perspectives—was one of the key strengths she gained throughout the program. “I’ve learned how to manipulate data to tell a story, pose alternative recommendations, and develop meaningful solutions to business problems,” she explains.

Professional and Academic Growth

Throughout the MSBA program, Arianna discovered strengths she never knew she had. One such strength was in public speaking. Although she had always enjoyed storytelling, she found that her ability to present analytics projects to executives was invaluable. “It allowed me to connect the data to a larger narrative and bring it to life for others,” she says.

The Unstructured Data Analytics course, in particular, pushed Arianna outside of her comfort zone. “We used tools like Visual Studio to work with complex, unstructured data—everything from text, images, and voice recordings,” she recalls. The hands-on, open-ended nature of the course gave her the freedom and responsibility to explore and apply new techniques, including deep neural networks. Arianna not only learned how to analyze unstructured data but also gained confidence in problem-solving and creative thinking.

Career Transformation and Networking

Arianna’s Notre Dame network played a key role in her career transformation. The connections she made with fellow alumni and current students helped her build relationships that will support her long after graduation. Through her involvement in organizations like the Jersey Shore Club of Notre Dame, she connected with people who weren’t just successful in their fields but also eager to support other Domers.

Reflecting on her journey, one of her proudest moments came when her peers sought her help on an assignment that had once intimidated her. “It was a full-circle moment that reminded me how much growth can happen quietly,” she shares.

The Notre Dame Experience: A Community Like No OtherArianna Sakoutis’s MSBA Experience 2

Arianna’s experience at Notre Dame has been unique, not just because of its strong academic focus but because of the deep sense of community and purpose that permeates every aspect of the institution. “It’s not just about learning skills; it’s about becoming the kind of leader who uses them with integrity and impact,” she says. For Arianna, Notre Dame’s commitment to building the good in business made all the difference.

One of her favorite memories was on a game day, surrounded by thousands of fans in the student section, all united in their pride for the university. “It’s not just about football; it’s about tradition, community, and the joy of being part of Notre Dame.”

Advice to Future Students

If she could go back and give herself advice on Day 1, Arianna would say, “Buy a bigger coffee mug, comment your code like your future self depends on it, and don’t be afraid to ask the ‘dumb’ questions—they usually end up being the most important ones.” To prospective students considering the MSBA program, she encourages them to trust their gut and take the leap. “This program will challenge you, but it will also surround you with a community that supports and pushes you in the best way,” she says.

For anyone on the fence about applying, Arianna would say: “You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start; you just need to be open to growth. This program will help you unlock your potential.”
