Nicholas Berente
Biography
Nick Berente is Mendoza’s Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs and also a professor in the IT, Analytics, and Operations Department. He teaches “Data and Technology for Senior Leaders” in year 2 of the EMBA program. In that class, Nick focuses on what students need to know about AI, data, and computing. Nick is a former entrepreneur – founding and growing two technology startups. After he sold his first company, he earned his PhD from Case Western Reserve University and has since won multiple awards for his teaching and his research. He studies ethical, organizational and institutional implications of digital technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). He has published over 200 academic journal and conference papers, and has worked with a variety of organizations across industries, including the US supercomputing effort. Recently, Nick is focusing on the ND-US Compete initiative for EMBA students to engage in entrepreneurship and ETA (entrepreneurship through acquisition) with a focus on Department of Defense contracting and onshore manufacturing.
