Fred Nwanganga is an Assistant Teaching Professor of IT, Analytics and Operations. He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in Data Management, Machine Learning and Unstructured Data Analytics. Prior to joining Mendoza as full-time faculty, Fred served as both the Manager of the Database Services and Platforms Services teams in the University’s Office of Information Technologies. In that role, he led the migration of the University’s ERP and 260 other applications and services to the Amazon Cloud as part of Notre Dame’s Cloud First initiative. Fred has over 15 years of information technology leadership experience in both private sector and higher education. Over the years, he has served in various capacities as a software developer, business analyst, database administrator, project manager and technology manager. He also co-founded and ran an IT business services consulting company for 3 years. Fred holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science from Andrews University, a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University and is currently finishing his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. His principal research is in the application of multi-target regression methods and mixture density networks to optimize workload capacity selection in public cloud environments.
