David Cloutier

- Biography
David Cloutier is Professor of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, and a fellow in the Business, Ethics, and Society Program. He taught at The Catholic University of America and Mount St. Mary's University for many years prior to coming to ND. His research interests focus on developing Catholic social thought in a way that is informed by critically-appropriated social science, especially economics and sociology. He is the author of the award-winning books, The Vice of Luxury: Economic Excess in a Consumer Age (Georgetown University Press) and Walking God's Earth: The Environment and Catholic Faith (Liturgical Press). He has written frequently for Commonweal and America, and writes a quarterly column on Catholic social thought for U.S. Catholic magazine.
