Keyan Li

Keyan Li is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame. Li received his Ph.D. in Management from MIT in 2024. His research integrates machine learning and economic theories to develop and sustain business strategies. He focuses particularly on strategies related to AI integration, new product development, salesforce management, and customer growth management. His work covers the retail, open source, fashion, online entertainment, and automobile industries, along with nonprofit organizations.
Li's current work follows two main lines. First, he explores how to make sense of the informational value of existing (observational and experimental) data when experiments (e.g., A/B tests) are either expensive or prohibitive. Second, he solves incentive (compatible) design and product design problems in the domains of innovation, creativity, and communication, as well as at their intersection with AI. Before his Ph.D., Li received an S.M. in Management Research from MIT, an M.S. in Theoretical Economics from Tsinghua University, and a B.Econ. in Economics from Fudan University.
