Ryan Retartha

As Advisor to the Dean and Senior Director of Strategy & Planning, Ryan holds a key leadership position within the Mendoza College of Business, responsible for providing oversight and direction for its strategic planning process, driving institutional initiatives, organizing the Dean’s Council, overseeing a team of strategy advisors, and serving as a trusted counsel to the Dean. Leveraging his background as a highly experienced nonprofit management professional with strong experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and executive-level decision-making, Ryan plays a pivotal role in shaping the institution's long-term vision and achieving its strategic objectives.

Before Mendoza, Ryan spent a decade in arts administration, with management positions at world-class organizations including Yale Repertory Theatre, the Wolf Trap Foundation, and the Goodman Theatre. Additionally, Ryan has held faculty positions in arts management and student advising at several institutions including High Point University, University of Notre Dame, Greensboro College, and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He has served on several nonprofit boards including the United States Institute of Theater Technology (USITT), the 2019 USGA Senior Open, and Casaday Costume Company. Ryan is a 2007 Notre Dame alumnus from Dillon Hall, and also holds an MFA in technical design and production management from Yale University.
