Cindy P. Muir (Zapata) is a Professor at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. She received her Ph.D. in Management and her B. S. in Psychology from the University of Florida. Dr. Muir studies people’s relationships with their jobs and the relationships they have that influence their work, focusing primarily on supervisor-employee ties. This broad interest has led her to study leadership (organizational justice, trust, humility), individual differences (diversity, personality), and stress and strain. She is also fascinated by the disconnect between leader behaviors and employee perceptions of those same behaviors despite a leader’s best efforts; because of the importance of leader-direct report relationships, Muir aims to further understand that divide by studying factors that exacerbate or minimize said disconnect. Her work has been published in top journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, among others. Currently, she serves as a Deputy Editor for Organization Science and, up until 2022, was an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal.
