Brian Uzzi, the Richard L. Thomas Professor of Leadership at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, will present a talk on his research. Uzzi also co-directs the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems (NICO) and the Ryan Institute on Complexity, while holding additional faculty appointments in Sociology and the McCormick School of Engineering. He has been a visiting professor at institutions such as INSEAD, Chicago, Harvard, and Berkeley. Throughout his career, Uzzi has been honored with 17 teaching awards and 15 scientific research prizes across social, physical, and computational sciences.
His research leverages social network science and computational methods to explore the drivers of exceptional human achievement. Uzzi’s work has been featured in media outlets like The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Economist, The New Yorker, and Fortune, while scientific journals across fields such as management, physics, sociology, medicine, economics, psychology, and computer science have published or highlighted his findings. His research has been funded by both U.S. government and private organizations.
Recognized globally as a leading scientist, educator, and consultant in leadership, social networks, and artificial intelligence, Uzzi advises organizations and governments in over 30 countries. His clients include major firms and institutions such as the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), McKinsey, PWC, KPMG, Deloitte, Baker McKenzie, Pepsico, P&G, Kraft, Abbott Labs, the World Bank, U.S. intelligence agencies, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and numerous non-profits worldwide.
