Yi Yang, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Yi Yang, Associate Professor and Lee Heng Fellow in the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics, and Operations Management (ISOM) at the School of Business and Management, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), will present a talk on his research. Yang joined the department in July 2017 and currently serves as the Director of the Center for Business and Social Analytics (CBSA).

He is also an Associate Editor for the INFORMS Journal on Computing, a member of the Editorial Review Board for Information Systems Research (ISR), and an Associate Editor for the MIS Quarterly (MISQ) Special Issue on “The Institutional Press in the Digital Age.” Additionally, he serves as a Senior Area Chair for the ACL Rolling Review (ARR).

Yang’s research focuses on natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, statistical inference, and their applications in finance and business. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Northwestern University in 2015 and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009.
