Kris Muir is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Management & Organization Department and since 2020 has served as inaugural Academic Director for the Master of Science in Management (MSM) Program, a graduate program designed for non-business majors. Kris has taught various audiences–undergraduates, master’s students, EMBA students, and non-degree executives–on the following topics: management, leadership, strategy, business problem solving, decision making, sustainability, best leader self, and building a transformational leadership portfolio. Prior to joining Notre Dame, Kris served as Academic Director for the Master of Science in Business program at Mays Business School (Texas A&M) and led workshops for the Center for Executive Development Global Programs on teams, decision making, and coaching and mentoring.
The Hackensack, New Jersey, native holds degrees in History and Spanish as well as a master’s degree in Spanish literature and a doctorate in Education with a focus on pedagogy. Before becoming a business professor, he taught and coached football and lacrosse at the K-12 level and created two nonprofit youth enterprises in Atlanta, Georgia.
Aside from his work at Notre Dame, Kris spends his time reading, managing a family business, raising two girls with his wife, M&O Professor Cindy Muir, and (sometimes) building artifacts from wood.
