Careers with Impact

Making a Difference in the World

Notre Dame has a strong commitment towards encouraging social development and several students pursue careers in this field. The following opportunities are available for those interested in making a social impact:

  • Social Entrepreneurships: Social ventures – both for-profit and not-for-profit – solve a particular social, humanitarian, or environmental problem, or address a profound human need. Sponsored by the Gigot Center, these exciting internships help our students further their understanding of the complexities and challenges of entrepreneurial ventures in developing countries
  • Service Careers/Non Profit Opportunities are provided through our partnership with the MBA Non-Profit Connection.

By applying what they have learned in the classroom, interns help partner organizations extend their mission and create a greater impact on surrounding communities. Social Internships are offered each summer to first year and graduating MBAs, in locations such as:

  • Cambodia
  • Jamaica
  • Kenya
  • South Africa
  • Uganda
  • Haiti
  • Guatemala

“Through Notre Dame’s Gigot Center, I spent a summer in Cape Town, South Africa at Ikamva Labantu working on challenging social problems. Inspirational colleagues had made the choice to pursue an impactful career over those that promised greater financial gains. I saw how the opportunity to make a difference was extremely rewarding despite the challenging environment. This experience made it easy for me to choose a job that had high community impact potential. Combining my MBA skills with the mission-driven focus and empathy I gained during my internship, I’m asking more of business every day.”
