Volition Capital names Sean Cantwell partner

Volition Capital, a Boston technology-focused equity and venture capital firm,
has named Sean Cantwell a partner in the firm.

Cantwell will focus on
software, tech-enabled services and Internet investments. He is a member of the
board of directors for iPipeline, G5 Search Marketing, Ping Identity and EnterpriseDB. He also played a role in GeoLearning’s
acquisition by SumTotal and in investments of GlobalTranz, Vibes Media, MFG.com
and Teliris.

Prior to Volition, he served as vice president of Fidelity
Ventures. Before that, he worked on technology growth equity investments at
Summit Partners. Cantwell earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a
bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre
Dame.

Volition Capital previously operated as Fidelity Ventures before it
broke off from Fidelity Investments to form an independent
venture capital firm in January 2010.  The firm has about $350 million invested
in 23 companies throughout the U.S. and Europe and seeks to invest in technology
startups that are already showing between $5 million and $50 million in
revenue.
