Ethics Week speakers to address wide-ranging sustainability topics

From initiating sustainability efforts on a college campus, to analyzing how sustainability can be measured by accountants or promoted by marketers, to exploring the promise of alternative energy sources, speakers in Ethics Week 2011 will cover a wide range of current topics.

All lectures will take place from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Giovanini Commons, which is located on the lower level of the Mendoza College of Business:

  • Feb. 14 (Monday) – “Sustainability at the University of Notre Dame”, Heather Christophersen, Director of Sustainability, University of Notre Dame.
  • Feb. 15 (Tuesday) – “Sustainability as the Central Theme of an Accounting Course, Bill Nichols, Accountancy Professor, University of Notre Dame.
  • Feb. 16 (Wednesday)  – “Sustainability: A Marketing Emphasis”, Patrick Murphy, Marketing Professor, University of Notre Dame
  • Feb. 17 (Thursday) – “Sustainable Energy: A Wind Energy Primer-Profits and Politics?”, Peter Dawes, President and CEO of Composotech Structures

All presentations of Ethics Week 2011 are free and open to the public. An annual lecture series sponsored by the Mendoza College of Business, Ethics Week encourages the discussion of ethical matters in undergraduate and graduate business courses at Notre Dame in order to secure a foundation for future moral decisions inside and outside the classroom.
