Principal of Maryland fund makes jump to Nashville private-equity firm
Private-equity firm Gen Cap America has named Christopher Hammond vice president. He will focus on business development, due diligence and the structuring and negotiation of acquisitions for Gen Cap, which focus on middle-market buyouts.
Hammond comes to Gen Cap from Calvert Street Capital Partners, a mezzanine fund based in Baltimore, where he focused on investing alongside private equity sponsors. Before that, Hammond was in Chicago with GE Capital’s Commercial Finance Group, Heller Financial and Ernst & Young.
“We’re very pleased to have Chris on board,” said Gen Cap President Barney Byrd. “We continue to strengthen our team with experienced leaders from the industry and look forward to Chris’ involvement in uncovering opportunities and growing our fund’s portfolio.”
Hammond holds a bachelor’s in business from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Gen Cap, which was founded in 1985, this past May completed the fund-raising for its $165 million Southvest Fund VI. Earlier this year, the firm sold two of its portfolio companies.
