Highest ranking ever for Notre Dame’s accountancy master’s program

Notre Dame’s graduate program in accountancy moved up two positions to fourth while the undergraduate program maintained its No. 4 ranking in the most recent survey of the nation’s top 25 accountancy programs.
It was the highest ranking ever for the graduate program.
The newsletter Public Accounting Report annually surveys accountancy professors to measure their perceptions of the programs that most consistently produce students capable of attaining partner status. This year the newsletter polled more than 1,700 professors from 316 colleges and universities.
The programs at the University of Texas-Austin topped both the undergraduate and graduate rankings as well as that for doctoral programs. Notre Dame does not offer a doctorate in accountancy.
Notre Dame’s undergraduate accountancy program in the Mendoza College of Business enrolls about 300 students annually. U.S. News and World Report ranked the program No. 7 nationally in its “America’s Best Colleges 2011” report. Bloomberg Businessweek ranked the Notre Dame accountancy program No. 1 in its 2010 ranking of undergraduate specialty programs
The Notre Dame Master of Science in Accountancy, which enrolls between 80 and 100 students annually, is a two-semester, 30-hour program designed to meet the accreditation requirements of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The program provides a broad-based business education that satisfies the 150-hour educational requirement adopted by more than 48 states and jurisdictions for certification and licensure as a CPA and by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
