Highland adds new vice president and five senior associates

Lexington, MASS. – Highland Capital Partners, a leading venture capital firm, today announced that Dean Banks, Jay DeCoons, Matt Nichols, Dan Rosen, Patricia Santos and Gaurav Tewari have joined the firm. The additions reflect Highland’s growth and continued commitment to an investment team characterized by strong entrepreneurial and operating experience, deep sector knowledge and extensive industry relationships.

“As our firm continues to expand in size and scope, we are very pleased to have Dean, Jay, Matt, Dan, Patricia and Gaurav join the organization,” stated Bob Davis, Managing General Partner. “Each brings a strong industry background that will add further depth and capacity to our sector-focused teams and provide our companies and partners with the high-level insight and expertise today’s market continues to demand.”

Based in Highland’s Menlo Park office, Jay DeCoons is focusing on investments in
technology and healthcare companies. Before joining Highland, DeCoons worked at
The MENTOR Network, a Madison Dearborn Partners portfolio company, where he
assisted senior management on a series of acquisitions to greatly expand the
company’s revenue and customer base. DeCoons began his career at Summit
Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm investing in growth stage
companies, where he concentrated his investment activity within the technology,
healthcare services, and business services industries. DeCoons also was in the
corporate strategy group at Medtronic, a world leader in medical technology, where
he focused on wireless communication technologies for remote patient monitoring.
He has a BBA (Finance) from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from
Harvard Business School.
