How to stop insider threats

IT, Analytics and Operations professor Mike Chapple was quoted in a Business News Daily article about network security and the insider threat employees can pose either by accident or intent.
Regarding user privileges, Mike Chapple, associate teaching professor of IT, analytics and operations at the University of Notre Dame, says, “One of the most important – and most often overlooked – controls is conducting frequent user account reviews. These reviews should watch for unnecessary accounts that were not disabled and for permissions assigned to accounts that are no longer necessary. Privilege creep is one of the major issues leading to insider attacks.”
