ND MBA alum wins FBI community leadership award

University of Notre Dame MBA alumnus Christopher W. Sinclair
(’06) of Boston has received the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award for
his many years organizing fund-raisers for
groups benefitting children in need.
The 32-year-old entrepreneur received the award from FBI
Director Robert Mueller in a ceremony held earlier this year at FBI
headquarters in Washington, D.C. The honorees were selected by the FBI field
offices in more than 50 large U.S. cities.
Among his many charitable endeavors, Sinclair created an annual
date auction in Boston, the proceeds from which are split between a local
organization such as the Boston Children’s Chorus and Children of South Africa,
which assists HIV/AIDS patients and children orphaned by the disease.
He partnered with the Latino STEM Alliance in 2010 to raise
$25,000 to buy computers for college-bound students attending Dorchester
Academy, one of the city’s most underprivileged public schools. The money came
from tickets sold for a unique game-day experience at a Boston Red Sox game
that included a VIP tour of Fenway Park, time on the field before the game,
seats in a private suite and dinner and drinks at a nearby restaurant.
The Notre Dame alum said the FBI award came as a surprise.
“A lot of these things fly completely under the radar, and
I’m fine with that because I’d rather have the focus be on the receiving
organization,” he said. “But I’m human, it’s nice to be recognized … and to be
recognized by such a high-profile individual and organization was also very
flattering.”
Sinclair, who is from Boston and now lives in the northern
suburb of Wakefield, is founder, president and director of business development
for The Anthem Group, a multifaceted agency specializing in the planning and
execution of corporate events, trade shows and large outdoor public festivals. Sinclair founded
Anthem as a college undergraduate, using his entire personal savings of just
$500, Chris has developed the company into a nationally and internationally recognized
entity that now operates in over 70 domestic markets, as well as across the
globe.
One of its biggest contracts is coordinating all vending and
concessions for Boston’s famous Fourth of July celebration. Anthem handles
everything but the fireworks and TV broadcast, he said. Since 2007, the company
has also produced an international music festival held in 70 North American
cities, he said.
In addition to his MBA, Sinclair holds a bachelor’s degree in
strategic marketing and organizational behavior from LaSalle University, a
master’s in sports administration from Ohio University and a graduate
certificate in civic leadership from the University of Massachusetts. He has also
studied public policy at Harvard.
He serves on the board of directors of several nonprofits,
including the New England region of the Easter Seals and Project DEEP
(Dorchester Educational Enrichment Program), an inner-city youth enrichment
program. Among other recognitions, he has been named among the “40 Under 40” business
executives by the Boston Business Journal
and featured in Entrepreneur
magazine.
