Sustainability will be the focus as Ethics Week 2011 kicks off Monday at the University of Notre Dame.

All lectures will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Giovanini Commons, which is located on the lower level of the Mendoza College of Business building. The event is free and open to the public.

On Monday, Heather Christophersen, director of sustainability at Notre Dame, will discuss what the university is doing;

On Tuesday, Bill Nichols, a professor of accounting, will talk about sustainability as the central theme of an accounting course;

On Wednesday, Patrick Murphy, a marketing professor, will discuss how sustainability can be a marketing emphasis; and

On Thursday, Peter Dawes, president and CEO of Composotech Structures, will deliver a talk titled, “Sustainable Energy: A Wind Energy Primer — Profits and Politics?”

The annual Ethics Week lecture series, which is sponsored by the Mendoza College of Business, encourages the discussion of ethical matters in undergraduate and graduate business courses at Notre Dame in order to secure a foundation for future moral decisions inside and outside the classroom.
