Timothy Carone was interviewed by Global News about where autonomous vehicle technology might take us.
What does all of this mean for the not-so-distant future? There are many predictions but Carone believes car ownership will plummet. Instead, more people will rely on Uber- and Lyft-type apps that deliver self-driving cars on demand.
In 10 years most of us probably won’t own a car. We’ll have some subscription with some company like an Uber… and we pay $149 a month and every morning we wake up with a car in our driveway that will take us to work.”
Carone, an associate teaching professor in the IT, Analytics, and Operations Department at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, is organizing a fall conference exploring the ethical considerations of AI, “Artificial Intelligence and Business Ethics: Friends or Foes?”
