The Morning Risk Report: U.S. targets alleged Iran state-sponsored hack
Published: March 27, 2018 / Author: The Wall Street Journal
Mike Chapple, associate teaching professor at Mendoza College of Business, was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal’s Morning Risk Report after federal prosecutors charged nine Iranians in connection with a cyberattack targeting universities and companies in the U.S.
One of the reasons the attacks on the professors were so successful is professors don’t see themselves as a likely target, he said.
“We generally don’t handle very sensitive information or have access to financial resources,” said Mr. Chapple. “Our accounts do, however, unlock the doors to the tremendous technology and research capabilities of our universities.”
