Thomas Harvey will host a workshop on “The How & Why of Nonprofit Boardship: A Design for Accountability and Quality” from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 5 at the Center for Community Cooperation at 2900 Live Oak.
The session is presented by the Center for Nonprofit Management in collaboration with the board of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
Harvey, a professor at University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and co-author of Nonprofit Governance, will offer practical and specific ideas for increasing nonprofit boards’ effectiveness and accountability.
“All boards share common responsibilities and common challenges,” Harvey said. “In this session, we will explore the crucial steps to being a highly qualified board from making high-quality decisions to building accountability through assessment and evaluation.”
Over 40 years, Harvey has led organizations committed to confronting the challenges of poverty, discrimination and access to health care and human services.
A networking lunch and book signing will follow the workshop from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The $100 fee includes lunch and a copy of Harvey’s book.
