Muffet McGraw, former head coach of the University of Notre Dame women’s basketball team for 33 seasons, will be the featured speaker for the Mendoza College of Business Dean’s Speaker Series. “Fireside Chat with Muffet McGraw” will take place from 1-2 p.m. ET Oct. 29 (Friday) in Mendoza’s Jordan Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public. Visitors must wear masks in compliance with the University’s COVID-19 guidelines. Ann E. Tenbrunsel, the David E. Gallo Professor of Business Ethics and the chair of the Department of Management & Organization, will serve as moderator.

McGraw is one of just five coaches in NCAA Division I history with more than 930 wins. She won NCAA national championships in 2001 and 2018 and was the 13th female coach inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. She had previously been inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.

Currently teaching a course in sports leadership at Mendoza, McGraw also serves as a studio analyst for ACC Network. Her recent book, Expect More!: Dare to Stand Up and Stand Out, advises women seeking to advance their leadership skills to “approach every opportunity not only with confidence but also with swagger.” She frequently speaks on the topic of the fight for gender equality and how to implement changes in national and collegiate sports.

The annual Mendoza Dean’s Speaker Series features senior executives and other experts who discuss emerging issues affecting business and society. The series is sponsored by the Eugene Clark Distinguished Lecture Series endowment.
