You know the old saying about nice guys finishing last? Well, apparently – and sadly – that is true, at least when it comes to making money. According to a study titled “Do Nice Guys – and Gals – Really Finish Last?” men and women who disagreed more often when they were examined for “agreeableness,” make more money than others.

Cornell professor Beth Livingston, who co-authored the study, told the Wall Street Journal, “Nice guys are getting the shaft.”

The disparity is more pronounced among men than women.

The report shows that disagreeable men make nearly $10,000 more in salary than those who agree more often. With women, those who disagree more often make about $2,000 more than women who agree more.
